Obituary for Helen L. Brown
Helen L. Brown, age 94, died on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Brenn-Field Nursing Center after a brief period of declining health.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2016, 11:00 AM at the Christ United Church of Christ, 301 N. Main Street ,Orrville, OH. Rev. Randy Gehres will be officiating. Burial will be at the St. Michael's Cemetery near Marshallville, OH.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 29, 2016, 9 - 11 AM prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that friends may make a donation to Christ United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 301 N. Main St.,Orrville, OH 44667 in her memory.


She was born August 15, 1921 in Marshallville, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Maude (Wertz) Baer. She graduated from Dalton H.S. with the class of 1939 and married Ralph Brown August 21, 1939 and they had 4 children. After raising her children, she pursued a life-long dream in nursing, graduating with the class of 1968 from Massillon City School of Nursing and working there and Orrville hospitals before finishing her career at Apple Creek Development Center. Her favorite Bible verse, "Be still and know that I am God, exemplified her caring spirit.
Her spare time was spent going dancing, playing cards with her sisters and brothers once a week, and crocheting Afghans for each member of her family. Most of all she loved her family and looked forward to family gatherings. She also loved to travel with friends, going to the Holy Land, Greece, and many other places. She was an active member of Christ United Church of Christ. There will be a noticeable empty spot on Sundays.

Surviving are four children Mary Helen (Fred) Meeks of Orrville, John (Carol) Brown of Orrville, Ruth Anne Rock of Orrville, Robert (Lisa) Brown of Canton. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren,1 great, great grandson, 2 sisters, Pearl Berlin and Ruth Beech, a brother, Larry (Roberta) Baer and sister-in-law, Velma Baer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, brothers, Wilmer, Russell and Lester Baer, and granddaughter and husband Teresa and William Tyson.
