Obituary for Mae E. Beeler
Mae Eilene Beeler, age 87, died on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Wooster Community Hospital after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Smithville Brethren Church, 241 E. Main St. Smithville. Pastor Art Carr will be officiating. Burial will be at the Smithville Cemetery in Smithville, OH. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, 5-8 PM at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville and Thursday, January 23, 2014, 1 hour prior toservices at the church. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, friend and family may make a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care of Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd.,Wooster, Oh 44691 in her memory. She was born October 16, 1926 in West Lebanon the daughter of Albert and Gaile (McFarren) Nickles. She attended Dalton schools and graduated from Dalton High School in 1945. Mae worked at The Smithville Inn for 57 years for 4 different owners starting in 1953 with the Reining family and ending with the Hammond's in 2010. As a result she was a well-known personality in Smithville. Her career was well documented in articles written for The Wooster Daily Record, The Akron Beacon Journal, and even The National Examiner. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, canning garden produce and cooking for her family. In later years she enjoyed sitting on her porch visiting with relatives and neighbors and bird watching. She especially enjoyed preparing and hosting big family dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Surviving are children Timothy R. (Nan) Beeler of Delaware, Ohio; Eilene K. Beeler of Smithville; Rex A. (Marian) Beeler of Smithville; Susan M. Bise of LaCrosse; Wisconsin; Becky L.(Patrick) Fallon of Hilliard, Ohio. Also surviving are grandchildren Tiffany (Michael) Esber, Christopher Beeler, Carolyn Beeler, Krystal (Scott) Haviland, Nathan Bise, Daryl Beeler, Ean Fallon and Aidan Fallon, 5 great grandchildren, and a sister Betty Leyman of Orrville. Preceeding her in death are her husband Roy O. Beeler in 1990, parent Albert and Gaile Nickles, sister Gladys Hammond and a great grandson Jordan.
