Obituary for Carl E. Morrison
Carl E. Morrison, age 87, died on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Aultman Compassionate Care Center in Canton, Ohio after a brief illness Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013, 11:00 AM at the Gresser Funeral Home, 415 N. Elm St. Orrville. Pastor Jack Westfall will be officiating. Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, OH with military honors. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be observed. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to in lieu of flowers the Buckeye Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2301 13th St. NW, Canton ,OH 44708 in his memory. Carl was born on October 17, 1926 to Clarence P. and Margarette Horrocks Morrison. After attending Nuttall High School, Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the Philippines and Japan during WWII. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and served as a military policeman at Camp Stoneman, CA, as well as in Germany and Austria before being honorably discharged in 1947. Carl married Frances Efinger and had two sons, Carl II and Clarence and that marriage ended in divorce. On February 3, 1951, he married Ruby Arlene Keeton and had 3 sons; David, Thomas and Ronald. Carl located to Ohio in 1952 and through the years was employed at Nickles Bakery, Orrville Body Co., Quality Castings, Crown Steel and he retired from Akron Brass in 1988. He also owned Gulf gasoline stations in Wooster and Orrville. Carl was active in the community serving as Scoutmaster for Troop 110 for 10 years, was a member and Deacon at Orrville Baptist Church, 50year member and Past Master of Cedar Lodge #430 F & AM, belonged to the Scottish Rite Valley of Canton and was a member of VFW Post 3446 in Orrville. Surviving are his wife Arlene, sons David (Kara) of Suwanee, Georgia, and Thomas (Dawna) of Orrville; sisters - Jean, Marjorie, Gaytha, Norma, Marguerite and Karen, brother Ronald and 6 grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 3 great grandsons. Preceding him in death are his parents, Clarence and Elizabeth, brother Jerril, sons Carl II, Clarence and Ronald, grandson Shaun and great granddaughter Melissa.
