Obituary for Shirley M. Fetter
Shirley M. Fetter, age 88, formerly of Smithville, died on Monday, December 31, 2012 at Smithville Western Care Center in Wooster after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 04, 2013, 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 777 S. Summit Rd. Smithville, OH 44677. Pastot Kristy Buyok will be officiating. Burial will be at the Smithville Cemetery in Smithville, OH. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013, 6-8 PM - Gresser Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greater Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd.,Wooster, OH 44691 in her memory. She was born February 16, 1924 in Rittman, Ohio, the daughter of Henry and Mable (Drushal) Perret. Shirley graduated from Smithville High School on May 26, 1942. Later she met and married Robert Fetter on June 3, 1945 and he died in 1995. She lived on the Perret farm on Smucker Road and the Smithville area her entire life. Shirley retired from the poultry science department of OARDC in Wooster where she was a research assistant and secretary. She was an avid gardener and active in the Smithville Garden Club as an officer. Shirley also volunteered time with the Smithville Historical Society at various exhibits and the historic Mishler weaving mill. She was a member and very active in St. Pauls's Lutheran Church of Smithville, serving on the church council. Surviving her are sons William (Angela) Fetter of San Antonio,TX, Timothy (Sheila) Fetter of Schertz, TX, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister, Gloria Mackey, and brothers, James Perret and Thomas Perret. Preceding her in death are Robert Fetter (Husband), Henry Perret (Father), Mable Perret (Mother).
