Obituary for Werden D. Miller
Werden D. ("Squirrel") Miller, 96 years young, of Orrville, died of natural causes on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at Horn Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wooster. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Orrville on Tuesday, April 3, at 11 A.M. Friends may call at Gresser Funeral Home from 9:30 -10:30 AM before Mass. Father Ronald J. Turek will be the celebrant. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul c/o St. Agnes Parish, 541 Spring Street, Orrville, OH 44667. The son of Ernest and Mabel (Bilderback) Miller, Werden was born on June 18, 1915, in Trinway, Ohio. He moved with his family to Orrville as a baby, and he remained a lifelong resident. He met his wife, Ann, on a blind date, and they were married on November 25, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Akron. Werden was a 1935 graduate of Orrville High School. He retired as a foreman from Westinghouse in Orrville after a 35-year career with the company. Werden was an avid golfer, playing regularly at Riceland Golf Course. He also enjoyed gardening, listening to polka music, and following Orrville High School football and basketball. He was a parishioner of St. Agnes Parish in Orrville and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ann (Heisler) Miller; his daughters Carol (James) Holtz of Mentor and Marianne Miller of Eastlake; his sons John Miller of Valrico, Florida, and Robert (Rosa) Miller of Guatemala City, Guatemala; and his niece, Lana Chadwick of Naples, Florida. He was blessed with six grandchildren--James (Heidi) Holtz of Mentor, David (Janelle) Holtz of Mentor, Bryan (Danielle) Holtz of South Euclid, Kevin (Megan) Holtz of Stow, Matthew (Toyomi) Holtz of Solon, and Isabella Miller of Guatemala City. His blessings continued with seven great-grandchildren--Joshua, Hailey, Madelyn, Elise, Oliver, Noemi, and Sam. Werden was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Smucker; brother, Glenn Miller; and son Jimmy, whom Werden missed very much.
