Obituary for Doris M. Daly
Doris M. Daly, age 98, died on Friday, April 01, 2011 at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, after a brief illness Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 05, 2011, 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, 7843 Smucker Rd. Smithville. Pastor Douglas Zehr will be officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Smithville, OH. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville has the privilege to serve the family. She was born in Smithville, Ohio on June 18, 1912 to William D. and Bertha (Berkey) Smucker and lived her entire life in the Smithville and Wooster areas. She married Jack R. Daly on July 12, 1941. He passed away in December of 2010. Doris graduated from Smithville High School and was a mother and housewife for the majority of her life. She worked for a number of years prior to her marriage at Lerch's Bakery in Wooster and retired from Glendora Healthcare Center. She was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Smithville where she managed the church library for many years. She was a member of the Women's Sewing Circle at the church and also the Crown Retirees. She volunteered for many years at Boy's Village (now The Village Network) and after her retirement she assisted in arranging day trips and other excursions for local senior citizens. She enjoyed reading, baking, puzzles and telling stories. Surviving are two daughters: Susan Daly Buchwalter of Wooster and Nancy (Lee) Smith of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Larry (Cheryl) Buchwalter of Chicago, Jennifer (Patrick) Ginnetti of Rocky River, Staci (Jeff) Gigliotti of Bastrop, Texas and Todd (Kelli) Smith of Arlington, Texas; plus nine great-grandchildren: Cameron, Bryce and Taylor Buchwalter; Zachary Curtin; Adrian, Max and Mia Ginnetti; and Gavyn and Libby Smith, along with several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her husband, her parents and two brothers: Roy Smucker and Orden (Bill) Smucker. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation to The Counseling Center, 2285 Benden Drive,Wooster, OH 44691 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Wayne County 2525 Back Orrville Rd.,Wooster, OH 44691 in her memory.
