Obituary for Myrtle I. Mellott
Myrtle I. Mellott, age 78, died on Saturday, July 03, 2010 at Wadsworth Rittman Hospital in Wadsworth,OH after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 08, 2010, 11:00 AM at the Paradise Church of the Brethren, 3000 Apple Creek Road, Smithville, OH 44677. Pastor Joe Roth and Pastor Ramsey Wallace will be officiating. Burial will be at the Paradise Church Cemetery near Smithville, OH. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, 6-8 pm at Gresser Funeral Home 415 N. Elm Street, Orrville, OH. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to Paradise Brethren Church Memorial Fund, 3000 Apple Creek Road,Smithville, OH 44677 in her memory. She was born June 12, 1932 at Weilersville, Ohio, the daughter of Glade and Eva (Stamp) Irvin. Myrtle attended school in Smithville and graduated Smithville High School in 1950. She married Elmer W. Mellott on October 11, 1952 and he survives. She worked at Frito-Lay in Wooster and then moved on to Green Local Schools where she was cook from 1962 - 1967 and cafeteria manager from 1967-1989. She retired with 27 years of faithful service. Myrtle was a life long member of the Paradise Church of the Brethren where she taught Sunday school for many years and attended Women's Fellowship. Surviving her are her husband, Elmer W. Mellott, a son Wesley Dean (Jan) Mellott of Wooster, a daughter, Connie K. Edwards-Reding and her husband Mike, a brother, Joseph (Joyce) Irvin of Sterling, grandchildren Kim Welton, Jonathan Edwards, and Bryan Edwards and great-grandchildren Kyle & Kody Welton, Easton Edwards and Kendra Lance. Preceding her in death are her parents and a brother, Ralph Irvin.
