Obituary for Roy E. Ramseyer
Roy E. Ramseyer, 96, passed away on Friday, January 18, at the Apostolic Christian Home, Rittman, OH.
He was born August 14, 1922, near Sterling, Ohio, the son of John E. (Sr.) & L. Mae (Rader) Ramseyer. He married Kathryn (Truex) in 1945. Roy loved Jesus and his family & cared for the land as a farmer. He was a gardener even in the last summer and always shared the fruit of his labors, generally planting more than he needed so he could share with many. Roy previously served Christ & the church as a trustee and a Sunday School Teacher, and enjoyed visiting those who needed a friend. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Roy is survived by five of his seven children Myron (Myrna) of Sterling, Robert deceased, John (Martha) of Sterling, David deceased, Jane (Jay) Lehman of Orrville, Dean of Orrville, & Eric (Roxie) of Dalton. In addition, he is survived by 20 grandchildren & many great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn, siblings Ella Pearl Smucker, Paul, Mae Smucker, & John E. Jr., and two sons.
Visitation will be at Gresser Funeral Home 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, January 23. Services will be at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 7605 Pleasant Home Rd., Sterling, at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 24, with viewing one hour before. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church-Missions, or the Apostolic Christian Nursing Home.
