Obituary for Roger A. Maiwurm
– Roger A. Maiwurm, 80 entered his heavenly home Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Akron City Summa Care.
Roger was born April 17, 1940 to Robert and Muriel Maiwurm. Roger lost his mother when he was eleven and his father then married Eleanor Badertscher who was a warm and wonderful mother to him. Roger married Jeanette Shupp. Surviving are Brian (Brenda) Maiwurm and two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Paul, and nephews and nieces.
Roger married Elsie Hartzler, August 16, 2003. Surviving are stepchildren Dwight (Beverly), Jennifer, Bruce (Lynette), Timothy (Carla) and Sharon, fourteen step grandchildren and 4 step greatgrandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister Carol (John) Brown and a brother Terry (Nancy) Maiwurm of Dayton and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, sons Thomas and Steven, a brother David and his wife Mary Lee Maiwurm, step- son Michael and a step grandchild
Roger was known as “Fireman Rog” when he presented fire prevention programs to school children for the Orrville City Fire Department where he served for 27 years. He rose to the rank as Lieutenant and was named Fireman of the Year two times. Roger along with his father Robert and brother David, owned and operated Maiwurms Clothing Store in Orrville for many years closing in 1995. Roger was a janitor for Orrville City Schools, retiring in 2003. He was a member of Martins Mennonite Church..
Private viewing for family will be at Gresser Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at Martins Mennonite in the Pavilion on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 2 pm. Burial of ashes will follow at the church cemetery.
