Douglas A. Cummings, age 57 passed away far too soon on September 21, 2016.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 28, 2016, 11:30 AM at the Gresser Funeral Home, 415 N. Elm St. Orrville. Burial will be at the Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH with military honors.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016, 6-8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that a donation be made in Doug Cummings’ name to the Portage County Animal Protective League, or the animal shelter of your choice in his memory.

He was born July 12, 1959 in Wadsworth, Ohio, the son of Harold and Norma J. (Monbarren) Cummings. Doug graduated from Wooster High School in May of 1977 and enlisted in the Army directly after graduation. He was stationed in Germany and enjoyed traveling by train throughout Europe when he was there.
Upon leaving the service in 1983 Doug worked at Bauer Ladder in Wooster for several years. He attended the University of Akron and received a Degree in Accounting. Doug worked as an accountant at Flo-Tork in Orrville, and Saint-Gobain in Aurora, before starting his own Accounting Practice in Ravenna, expanding to Alliance and Wellington.
Doug was a learned man, and earned his Master’s in Business Administration from The University of Phoenix. Since the spring of 2015, Doug was pursuing his Doctorate in Business Administration. Doug was looking forward to retiring from his Accounting business, travelling and eventually teaching.
Some of Doug’s favorite things to do were golfing, watching his Notre Dame college football, fishing in Key West with his brother Ed and son Kieffer, and playing table games at Mountaineer Casino with his wife Kim. He was so proud of his children and their accomplishments at school and beyond. Doug enjoyed vacations to Florida with his wife and children, and working on their farm. He loved his animals, especially all of his cats, dogs and horses.
He is survived by his loving family: wife, Kimberly (Graham) Cummings, sons Kieffer and Jarrod, and daughter Nicole. He leaves behind his brother Edward (Laura) Cummings, sisters Barbara (Charles) Brandon and Pamela Graser, his aunt Vera (Monbarren) Zimmerman, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by both his mother and father and a sister Linda who died as a young child.
