Obituary for Susanna R. Congdon-McIntyre
Susanna R. Congdon-McIntyre, age 89 died on Sunday, May 01, 2011 at Orrville Pointe Care Center in Orrville, OH after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Orrville, 1830 W. Market St. Orrville, OH 44667. John Lufkin will be officiating. Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, OH. Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville is assisting the family with funeral planning. There will be no calling hours or public visitation. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that friends may make a donation to First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 1830 W. Market St.,Orrville, OH 44667, the Orrville Area Boys and Girls Club 820 N. Ella St. PO Box 16,Orrville, OH 44667 or the Orrville Historical Society, 142 Depot Street, Orrville, OH 44667. She was born July 02, 1921 at Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Gordon and Esther (Cowell) Rieley of Columbus and Cleveland. She graduated from Shaker Heights High School 1939 and attended Western College for Women, Oxford, Ohio, graduating in 1943. Susanna also attended Toba-Coburn School for Fashion Careers, New York City, NY and graduated in 1944. She lived in Cleveland until 1980 and was Children Services Assistant in Cleveland Heights, University Heights Library from 1957-1980. Susanna married Carl E. Congdon Jr., in 1957 in Columbus, OH. They moved to Orrville in 1980. He died on February 14, 1993. Susanna then married Bill (William) Harvey McIntyre on June 10, 1997. Bill died on December 23, 1999. She belonged to Kensington Club, Tuesday Book Club, Tri Arts Club, Evergreen Garden Club and active in Orrville Historical Museum. She was involved in Women's Activities of First Presbyterian Church, the Women's Reaching Out Club and the Wednesday Club. Surviving are stepdaughters Amy McIntyre (William) Cook and Jane McIntyre, Stow, OH, sister Elizabeth (Betsy) R. Troth, niece Diane Troth (Jeff) Lawrence and grandniece and nephew Katherine and Christopher of Santa Monica, CA. She was preceded in death by husbands, Carl Congdon and William McIntyre, Gordon Rieley (Father), Esther Cowell (Mother).
