Obituary for Russell W. Baer
Russell W. Baer, age 83, went home to be with the Lord on February the 9th 2015, at Shady Lawn Nursing home in Dalton. He passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family. Funeral services will be Friday the 13th at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville at 11:00 am with Pastor Donna Wood officiating. Burial will be at St. Michaels Cemetery. Friends and family may call Thursday the 12th from 6-8pm at the funeral home. He was born on July 31st, 1931, to Raymond and Maude (Wertz) Baer and married Margaret Spencer on September the 9th 1956. He grew up in Marshallville and graduated from Dalton High School in 1949. He served in the United States Navy for two years before returning to the family farm. He later went to work for Wil-Burt Company where he retired in 1999 after 38 years. He loved attending his grandkids ball games, talking with everyone he met and promising to share the lottery if he won. He had a kind and gentle heart and will be missed by family and friends. He is survived by children James (Julie) Baer, Linda (Greg) Miller, Eva Sibert of Dalton and Tom (Erin) Baer of Orrville. Sisters Ruth Beech of Smithville, Pearl Berlin of Marshallville and Helen Brown of Orrville and a brother Larry (Roberta) Baer of Marshallville. He had 9 grandchildren Crystal (Levon) Johnson Baer of Lakewood, Amanda (Luis) Cruz of Marshallville. Matthew Sibert, Chase and Jade Miller, Tyler and Addy Baer of Dalton. Paige and Payton Baer of Orrville. He had 4 great grandchildren Jasmin Thompson and Amira Johnson of Lakewood. Brendyn and Andrea Cruz of Marshallville. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Also two brothers Wilmer and Lester Bair.
