Obituary for Richard D. Stoll

Richard D. Stoll, age 86, passed away on Jan. 14, 2023 after a brief illness.

He was born on July 31, 1936 to the late Bud and Mary (Reed) Stoll in Marshallville. He married Josephine (Benak) on March 2, 1957 by Father Rapach at St. Nicholas Greek Catholic Church in Barberton.

Rich was employed by the Marshallville Equity Co. until 1967 as a fuel delivery driver. He then retired from Reiter Dairy in 1998 after 31 years of service as a milkman.

In his younger days, he enjoyed go-kart racing with his father. He then became interested in collecting and restoring antique cars. He attended many swap meets and car shows. Rich organized two car shows every year for the Marshallville Historical Society. He was a member of the “Magic City Cruisers” and the “Ramblin Rods” car clubs. He was also a NASCAR fan and a true Chevrolet man.

Rich was active with his Reiter Retirees and especially with the Marshallville Historical Society either working the tractor pulls or setting up the car shows. He started and donated the hot dogs and drinks for Trick or Treat night for the Historical Society for 20 years. Rich also served as president of the Marshallville Village Council for 25 years.

One of his hobbies was playing euchre at the “Marshallville Mill” with friends. His favorite hobby was fishing on Lake Erie, Salt Fork or his trips to Canada. He enjoyed camping at Salt Fork with his family and really enjoyed the New England Cruise that he and Josephine took for their 50th anniversary.

Surviving are a brother Larry (Pat) Stoll, a sister Janice (Bud) Maxwell and sister-in-law Nancy Stoll all of Marshallville. Children: Jennifer (Michael) Most and Julie (Heidi) Stoll of Marshallville, Angie (Chris) Wilds of Orrville, Kathy (Doug) Hunter of Rittman, Richard (Jenny) Jr. of Wooster, and Fred (Cheryl) of Cambridge. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his wife Josephine after 65 years of marriage (May 2022), brother Don, Aunt Hazel and Uncle Carl Stoll and his parents.

A memorial brunch will be held on Jan. 28, 2023 from 10-12 noon at the Marshallville Community Building. A private graveside service will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Marshallville for the family.

The family wishes to thank the staff at LifeCare Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Rich in his last days.
