Obituary for Nettie Singer
Nettie M. Singer, age 89, died on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at West View Manor in Wooster,OH after a brief period of declining health. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2010, 11:00 AM at the Gresser Funeral Home, 415 N. Elm St. Orrville. Rev. Randy Gehres will be officiating. Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, OH. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 23, 2010, 6-8 pm at the funeral home. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to Christ United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 201 N. Main St.,Orrville, OH 44667 in her memory. She was born March 06, 1921 in Orrville, OH, the daughter of Jacob K. and Clara (Moyer) Eshleman. She married Clarence E. Priest on June 1946 and he died November 27, 1984. Later she met and married Roy Singer and died March 23, 2007. Nettie attended Orrville schools and graduated Orrville High School in 1939. She had worked for Bowman Grocery, East Ohio Gas Company and most notably, as a clerk for Johnson Hardware for many years. She was a life long member of the Christ United Church of Christ in Orrville and involved in many church activities including Homemakers Club, Women's Guild and the International Caring Unit. Nettie was also a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and was a 4-H Adviser and a Girl Scout leader. Surviving her are a daughter Karen (Ralph) Wyss of Orrville, OH, grandchildren, Brian (Loretta) Wyss of Orrville, Jennifer (Kyle) Brown of Wooster, and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are stepchildren, Larry (Sharon) Singer and Linda (Bill) Lacy, both of Orrville, 4 step-grandchildren and many step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husbands, Clarence Priest and Roy Singer, and a brother, Myron Eshleman
