Obituary for Maurice W. Curie
Maurice W. Curie, age 86, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Altman Orrville Hospital in Orrville, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 27, 2017, 11:00 AM at the East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7207 Chippewa Rd. Orrville. Rev. Joe Roth will be officiating. Burial will be at the East Chippewa Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, 4 - 7 PM at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville.
The family suggests that friends may make a donation to Brethren Disaster Relief, % East Chippewa Church, 7207 Chippewa Rd., Orrville, OH 44667 in lieu of flowers.
He was born to Albert J. Curie and Blanche Miller Curie, November 4, 1930 and graduated from Smithville High School in 1948. He entered the United States Air Force in January 4, 1951 and was discharged in Dec. 1954. He married Geraldine Weisgarber Curie in 1953. He did volunteer work for Brethren Disaster and was job coordinator for many years. He was a member of East Chippewa Church of the Brethren. He also gave his time to building Breakway and CAMO. He greatly enjoyed managing the church baseball team for many years and he looked forward to his week in Canada fishing, playing cards with friends and family and going to Florida in the winters.
He worked for CA King Construction, owned and operated his company, GG Crown Construction and then worked for Engineer Associates.
He is survived by daughter Jeannette Shoup, son Bill (Shelly) Curie, granddaughter Kelly (Bill) Severe and grandsons Steve Shoup, Dustin and Amy Rodgers, Shane and Megan Rogers, Zach Rogers, Janice Romani, Andy Romani, and Tony Romani; two great granddaughters, who were the light of Grandpa’s world, Abby and Brittney Severe. Also surviving is his sister, Edna (Charles) Fleming and a special friend, Martha Kaufman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Geraldine, son Marshall, his sister and her husband, Robert and Pear Mansburger and son-in-law, Olin Shoup.
