Obituary for Marilyn M. Thompson
-- Marilyn Mae Thompson, age 91, of Wooster went to be with her Lord on May 31, 2021.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 05, 2021, 11:00 AM at the East Union Lutheran, 7063 East Lincolnway Wooster, OH. Pastor Rob Moskowitz will be officiating. Burial will be at the Wooster Cemetery in Wooster OH.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, 6-8 PM - Gresser Funeral Home, and Saturday, June 5, 2021, 1 Hour before services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that friends may make a donation to East Union Lutheran Church, 7063 East Lincoln Way in her memory.

Marilyn was born on May 11, 1930, in Marshallville, OH to Glenn and Emma (Miller) Douglass. She married James Russell Thompson (deceased on Aug. 26, 1992) on July 22, 1951.
She graduated from Dalton high School in 1948 and Aultman Hospital School of nursing 1951. She worked as an RN for 43 years, starting at Dunlap Memorial Hospital, Orrville, OH in 1951 and retiring in 1994. She also worked at Glendora Nursing Home, Wooster in 1960’s as Director of Nursing for 7 years.
Marilyn attended East Union Lutheran Church, Wooster, OH and active in music, playing piano, and organ and in choir most of her life.and sang in Handel’s Messiah with the Orrville Chorus for over 30 years. She also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and Sunday was family day at her home.

She is survived by sons, James D. (Joyce), Jeffrey C. (Linda), Jonathan H. (Debra), Joel R., Joshua G. Thompson and son-in-law J. Steven Kauffman all of Wooster. Also surviving are grandchildren, Jan (Travis) Higgins, Wooster, Jason (Charity) Thompson, Holmesville, OH, Jennifer (Brian) Persinger, Wooster, Stacy (Casey) Jones, Akron, Seth Thompson, Wooster, Amy (Jacob) Weirick, Wooster, Lindsay (Cory) Besancon, Smithville, Abigail (Charles) Russell and Angelina Thompson of Wooster and 15 great grandchildren, Garrett, Mason, Lucas, and Samuel Higgins, Jewel, Jorjia and Jorn Persinger, Anabelle and Jamison Thompson, Alexander and Charlotte Jones, Anthony , Anna and Louis Besancon, Briggs and Bodhi Weirich and Luciana Russell.

Siblings include a brother Wendell (Ellen) Douglass Orrville, Gerald (Jane) Douglass, Smithville, Terry (Joanie) Douglass, Wooster and Sister In-law Arleen Amstutz, Wooster and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Jill Kauffman (Sept. 22, 2005) and brother, Wendell.
