Obituary for Joyce L. Grimes
-- Joyce L. Grimes, age 97 died on Friday, October 07, 2022 at Wooster Danbury in Wooster Ohio.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022, 11:00 AM at the Christ United Church of Christ 301 N. Main Street, Orrville, OH . A private family burial will Crown Hill Cemetery prior to services.
Calling hours will be at Gresser Funeral Home on Friday October 14, 2022 from 6-8 PM
In lieu flowers, the family suggests that friends and family may make a donation to Christ United Church in Orrville or Wooster Danbury 939 Portage Road, Wooster OH 44691.
She was born November 16, 1924 in Wayne Township, OH, the daughter of Davy F. and Ruth (Aldrich) Lytle. She attended Smithville High School graduating in 1942. Joyce married Robert E. Grimes on November 3, 1946 and he died on November 5, 2008. They lived on a farm just a little east of Orrville where they raised their family. She was a member of the Christ United Church of Christ where she enjoyed helping with Sunday School, the sewing ladies and playing in the bell choir. Joyce was also a member of the Farm Bureau and Homemakers Club.
Surviving are sons Steve (Linda) Grimes and Don (Ellen) Grimes both of Orrville, Daughters Kay (Dave) Murdock of Michigan and Jill (Kent) Schellhause of Milford: 17 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Clara Donley of Nasville, brother, Norman Lytle of Amarillo Texas, sister -in-law Marie Rutledge of Wooster and brother-in- law Bruce Graber.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, granddaughter Kristi Grimes and great Grandson Jack Schellhause, brother Glenn(Martha) Lytle, sisters Ellen(Willard) Keith Marilyn(John) Kruk, Bernice Graber, and Nancy(Laverele) Kauffman; sister-in-law Dorothy(Carl) Weidman and brothers-in-law Harvey Rutledge, Willard Keith and Louis Donley.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wooster Danbury and Lifecare Hospice for their kindness and care of Joyce in her time of need.
