Obituary for John J. (Jack) Myers
John J. Myers, age 86, died peacefully on Thursday, October 03, 2013 at Samaritan Care Center in Medina. There will be no funeral services. As here his wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family internment of ashes will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville at a future date of the family's choice. Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville is assisting the family. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to Hospice of Medina County at 5075 Windfall Rd, Medina, OH 44256 in his memory He was born Oct. 5 1926 in Orrville Oh to John H. Myers and Jennie nee Scott. John served in the Philippines during WWII and shortly after returning married Margaret nee Deetz. He spent many years in the banking industry and in his spare time enjoyed playing pool and participating in euchre tournaments. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Medina and the IOOF of Apple Creek. He also helped initiate the Medina Oktoberfest in the late 70's and had been a long time member of the Medina Rotary Club. Even though he was nearly totally deaf (Cameo) helped hundreds of truckers over the years find their destinations around Northeast Ohio on his C.B. radio from the comfort of his recliner. He is survived by his children, Virginia (Dan) Bucksar, William (Linda) Myers, Scott (Denise) Myers all of Medina and Nancy (Dean) Lyon of Berea and grandchildren Nicole, Curtis, Matthew, Shannon and Mitchell. The family wishes to acknowledge Elmcroft of Medina, Samaritan Care Center of Medina and Hospice of Medina County for their loving and compassionate care of our Dad over the last 9 months. His family will dearly miss John. Love You Dad John was preceeded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret, his Mother and Father, sister Verla and brother Edward.
