-- James V. Bennett, age 91, died on Monday, November 04, 2024 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, Ohio after a short period of declining health.
A private graveside service will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville, OH with Reverend Alex Banes officiating. In lieu of flowers, donation may be directed to LifeCare Hospice of Wooster.
James was born in Morristown, New Jersey the son of Harry and Anna (Mannon) Bennett. He went right into the U.S. Navy after high school was deployed to the Korean Conflict. Jim married Joan Henry in California and then moved to Ohio. Joan died in 1989.
He started his career as a salesman with Buffalo Tank, Bethlehem Steel Company and finished his career with Collins Equipment in Cleveland.
James was a resident of Marshallville for the past 52 years and was an active member Marshallville American Legion. A favorite pass-time after he retired was having lunch with his friends at Angie’s in Barberton until his health declined.
He is survived by his children - Jim (Connie) Bennett Jr, Deb Galehouse, Marilyn Oaks, Anita Powers, Joanne Harbert; Grandchildren - Jamie (Dave) Culler, Jimmy Bennett III, Andrea (Alex) Barnes, Rob Galehouse, Trey (Shallyn) Vodika, Deanna Oaks, Michael (Theresa) Frasier, Chris Frasier, Megan (Chad) Meitzler and Kylie Harbert. Also surviving are 18 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and special friend Pat Carpenter.
