Obituary for Evelyn E. Mettetal
Evelyn Ella Mettetal was called home on January 29, 2022, surrounded by her family
after a brief period of declining health.

The family will hold a private burial service. Friends and family are welcome and invited to a gathering to celebrate Evie's life on Sunday, February 20th from 4-7 pm at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7207 Chippewa Rd. Orrville, Ohio. We will share food, memories, love and friendship.
Evie would have wanted it that way! There will be no calling hours.

Evelyn was born August 30, 1927 at home in Orrville, Ohio to Joseph A. and Addie N. (Burkhammer) Eggleston. After graduating from Orrville High School in 1945, she was employed by the Orrville Bedding Company and the City of Orrville's electric department. She married Duane L. "Chick" Mettetal on September 23, 1955 in Angola, Indiana, and was a homemaker following the births of daughters Mary L. (Jim) King and Sandra E. (Danny Kiefer) Chapman.

Evie enjoyed traveling with her friends in her younger years, her family, watching the grandchildren's
sports and school activities, and a good bowl of ice cream. She was always a loving and positive person, inspiring others with her smile and her generosity. She put others before herself, and she prayed daily for folks she knew, and for folks she didn't. There was always room at her table and in her heart for one more.

Evie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane on March 28, 1986, sister and brother-in-law Faye and Gerald Wade, brother and sister-in-law Leonard "Red" and Margaret Eggleston, and grandson Zachary Chapman. She will be greatly missed by daughters Mary and Sandy, grandchildren Amanda Slone, Rachel King, Michael Gable and Savannah Chapman, great-granddaughters Lilly, Peyton and Kendall, and nephews Timothy Wade and Joseph (Marcia) Eggleston.
