Obituary for Esther A. Hostetler
Esther A.( Miller) Hostetler, age 79, died on Thursday, July 12, 2012 and went home to be with the Lord after a lengthy illness. A celebration of Esther's life will be held Monday, July 16, 2012, 11:00 AM at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church, 7843 Smucker Rd. Smithville, OH. Pastor Douglas Zehr will be officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 15, 2012, 4 - 8 PM at Oak Grove Mennonite Church and one hour prior to services on Monday. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to Hospice and Palliative Care of Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Rd.,Wooster, OH 44691 or Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Education Fund 7843 Smucker Rd.,Smithville, OH 44677 in her memory. Esther was born October 2, 1932, in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of John & Orpha M. (Yoder) Miller, and married to Clair V. Hostetler on August 30th, 1952. Esther was a wonderful homemaker, bookkeeper for the family owned business of Hostetler Finishing. She enjoyed family, friends, sewing, crafting, gardening, camping, music, church activities, and hosting get-togethers. Despite her physical limitations, she still found ways to reach out to touch others, and was an inspiration to those who knew her. She was an active member of Oak Grove Mennonite Church, where she was a part of the Mennonite Sewing group. Esther was also a member of the Smithville Homemakers Club, had helped many years at the Relief Sale in Kidron, Ohio, and doing canoe trips at Camp Luz in the summers. Surviving are her husband, Clair V. Hostetler, and children, Reneda (Brian) Miller of Sterling, Lynae (Heath) Baer of Marshallville, Stefan Hostetler of Sterling, and Marea (Travis) Ullman of Wooster; grandchildren, Reed, Wren, Aidan, and Lee Hostetler, Wyatt and Willow Baer, Colt and Bryce Ullman; siblings James (Marilyn) Miller, Eldina (David) Nussbaum, David (Bonnie) Miller, Pat Miller, and sister in law Maryann King (Lyle) Pratt, and a number of special nieces and nephews. Esther is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Mareda Hostetler, brothers Richard Miller and John Miller, sister in law Margaret Miller, brother in law Darrell King, niece Susan Miller, and a great nephew Jason Miller. The family would like to thank all those for their wonderful care and support over the years.
