Obituary for Ellen G. Keith
Ellen G.(Lytle) Keith, 100, gently passed away in her sleep on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

Memorial services will be Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Smithville United Methodist Church, 10:30 am, presided by her grandson, Luke Haidle. A graveside service will be Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Smithville Cemetery, 9:30 am prior to church services.

Calling hours will be Friday, October 1, 2021 at Gresser Funeral Home, Orrville, Ohio from
6-8 pm. It is strongly suggested face masks be worn and social distancing observed at calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Smithville United Methodist Church Education Grant Fund in memory of Ellen Keith.


Ellen was born on December 3, 1920 to Davy F. and Ruth (Aldrich) Lytle in Fredericksburg, Ohio. She graduated from Smithville High school in 1939. She married J. Willard Keith on New Year’s day, January 1, 1942; they were married for 38 years.

For more than 30 years she worked at Rubbermaid of Wooster as supervisor of the Printing Department. During that time she also earned a Bachelors of Science and a Masters of Science in Education from The University of Akron. She then became an instructor of business technology at UA Wayne College.
Ellen was an active, lifelong member of the Smithville United Methodist Church. She was a youth counselor and mentor, choir member, and served on many church committees. She also enjoyed hosting a weekly Bible Study in her home until reaching the young age of 99.

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two of her children David W. (Leona) Keith, of Lancaster, Ohio and Ruth Ellen (Stan) Haidle, of Mitchell, SD. Sisters: Joyce Grimes, Clara Donley, and brother Norman Lytle. Four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; Bradley (Kathy), David and Mark Keith, Luke (JoAnne) Kate, Micah and Levi Haidle, Arris Skunza, Brianna (Tyler) Briley, Kolbie and Bexley Brock;

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, her husband, parents, three sisters; Marilyn, Bernice, Nancy, and one brother, Glenn.
