Obituary for Dorothy M. Dumire
Dorothy M. Dumire, age 90, formerly of Marshallville, died on Monday, August 03, 2015 at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville,OH. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 10, 2015, 11:00 AM at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. Morgantown, WV 26505. Burial will be at the Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, 1290 Fairmont Rd, Westover, WV. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015, 6-8 PM - Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville and Sunday, August 9, 2015, 7 - 9 PM at the Hastings Funeral Home in West Virginia. She was born July 18, 1925 in Morgantown, West Virginia, the daughter of Asa C. and Sue M. (Kelley) Rogers. She married Lawrence Z. Dumire on Oct. 1, 1943. Dorothy was a housewife working alongside her husband as they purchased their dairy farm (Dell Hill Farm) in 1953 in Dellslow, West Virginia. They had great times attending the West Virginia Mountaineers footbll games and following their games over the years. She retiring from the good life of dairy farming and moved to Marshallville in 1994. Dorothy became a member of the Marshallville United Methodist Church and President of the Marshallville United Methodist Women's Society. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and quilting. She made many quilts for church functions, family weddings, birthdays, and graduations. She belonged to the quilting group of ladies at the Mellons Chapel church in Dellslow where many quilts were made. Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her friends and her family. Reunions and grandchildren school events were special times to her. Dorothy enjoyed traveling the area attending auctions big and small and going on trips with the seniors of Marshallville and the Orrville Jelly City Seniors. Surviving are children Kathryn Sue (Jim) Beck, Larry (Cindy) Dumire, James E. (Nancy) Dumire, sisters, Sara Smith of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Helen Stacy of Fairmont, West Virginia. brother-in-law, Vincent Dumire of Moundsville, West Virginia, sister-in-law, Lahoma Robinson ofLambertville,Michigan. Also surviving are grandchildren Karen Hensel and Denise Schlund of Orrville, Jeff Dumire of Norton,OH, Chris Dumire of Lenoir, North Carolina, Erin (Bruce) Durham of Louisville, Kentucky, and Holly (Chris) Wozny of Mooresville, North Carolina. Great Grandchildren Kelsie (Jayme) Curie and Kyle Johnston of Orrville, Ohio. Matthew Hensel of Wooster, Ohio, Meggan Hensel of Orrville, Ohio, Sarah Dumire of Lenior, North Carolina, Patrick Dumire and Noah Durham of Louisville, Kentucky. Great Great Granddaughter Adie Curie of Orrville, Ohio. Step Great Grandchildren, Ron, Mike, Bill, Sean and Bradly of Orrville, Ohio and Mindy, Michael, Natasha and Dylan of Norton, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Z. Dumire on Oct. 10 2001, son Roger Lee, infant daughter Jean Louis, granddaughter Pamela Lynn Dumire and brother, Robert Rogers.
