Obituary for Dolores Jean Shaffer
Dolores Jean Shaffer , 87, of Marshallville, Ohio passed peacefully on Thursday, June 11, 2020, after a period of declining health, at The Avenue in Wooster, Ohio.

Dolores was born in July 1932 to the late Earl and Irene Snyder. She was a graduate of Dalton High School, Class of 1950, where she was a class officer, majorette, and cheerleader. Before graduating, Dolores began a 48 year career at The Marshallville Equity where she eventually retired in 1997. Dolores was the manager for 12 years and was very committed to her job and gave so much to the company, the customers and the employees. Many will recall her friendly greeting when they called….” Hello Equity”.

Dolores married Charles “Chuck” Shaffer in 1954 and began her family in 1958 with a son, Rick and a daughter, Lisa in 1960. She was widowed in 1973, left with the daunting task of raising two young children alone.

She married Tom Galehouse, and remained friends following their 12 years together. Dolores then found companionship with Nevin “Nub” Boley for over 30 years. Nub was by her side until her final days at The Avenue.

Dolores was a woman of faith and a member of St Michael’s United Church of Christ. Patience, kindness, generosity and intelligence were just some of the many qualities she possessed. She was an avid reader and loved her Cleveland Indians. Dolores was always quick to greet you with a smile and always saw the good in people.

She is survived by her son, Rick (Liz) Shaffer and daughter, Lisa Shaffer; her companion, Nevin Boley; two grandchildren, Erin (Stewart) Clark and Charlie (Erica) Shaffer; and her two great grandchildren, Adria and Harper Shaffer.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Dick” Snyder (1960), her husband, Charles H. Shaffer (1973), her father, Earl Snyder (1994), her mother, Irene Snyder (2003) and her brother, Robert Snyder (2011)

A private burial will be held at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Marshallville. The family will welcome friends on Saturday, June 20th between 2:00 – 3:00 and family between 3:00 – 4:00 at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville. Health guidelines and social distancing will be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Michael’s United Church of Christ in her memory.
