Obituary for Arthur R. Potter
Arthur R. Potter, age 65, went home to be with the lord on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Massillon Affinity Medical Center after an extended period of declining health. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2011, 11:00 AM at the Orrville Baptist Church 204 Bell Avenue Orrville, OH. Pastors Bradley Dews and Russ McMillion will be officiating. Burial will be at the Apple Creek Cemetery in Apple Creek, OH. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, 6-8 pm at the Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville, OH. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio, 711 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus OH 44205 in his memory. He was born April 13, 1946 at Coudersport, PA, the son of Frank and Luella (Rennells) Potter.Arthur served his country in the Army for six years and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After his service he entered into the Logistics field gaining experience as a self employed truck driver, and then shared that knowledge as a Safety and Compliance Director. In his retirement he provided transportation to Mennonite community members, which he enjoyed very much. Arthur also served the Lord in many roles, pastor, assistant pastor, Sunday school teacher, and youth group leader. He was a devoted family man who will be missed by family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Linda, sister Jeanette Woodcock, three brothers Phil, Fred, and Bruce Potter, sons Robert and his wife Paula, Ryan and his wife Carissa, and four grandchildren plus another grandchild soon to join the family. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, two nephews Tim Potter, Dale Woodcock, and son Richard who went home to be with Jesus at the age of twelve.
