Obituary for Amy R. Homan
Amy Roberta Homan, age 81, formerly of Bradenton FL, died on Thursday, July 01, 2010 at the Altercare Nursing Center of Wadsworth after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 05, 2010, 11:00 AM at the Gresser Funeral Home, 415 N. Elm St. Orrville. Pastor Larry DeVore will be officiating. Burial will be at the East Chippewa Cemetery near Orrville,OH. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 5, 2010, 1 Hr before services at the funeral home. The family suggests that friends may make a donation to East Chippewa Church Memorial Fund, 7207 Chippewa Rd.,Orrville, OH 44667 in her memory. She was born September 10, 1928 in Burbank, OH, the daughter of Anson and Mary (Kime) Carpenter. She married Gene F. Homan on June 24, 1945 and he died August 22, 1995. Amy attended school in Shreve Ohio and had lived in Orrville, Bradenton, Florida and Wadsworth. She had worked at the J.M. Smucker Company and Rubbermaid in Wooster. Her special interests were doing puzzles, playing cards and bingo, and playing the organ. Amy was a member of the East Chippewa Church of the Brethren. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren and a special friend to many at the nursing center in Wadsworth. Surviving her are children Connie (Fred) Gruninger of Bradenton, FL, Carol (Dennis) Blackburn, Janet (Jim) Heffelman, Brenda (Harry) Respress, all of Wadsworth, OH, and Robert Gene Homan of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are grand children,Christine and Gregory, Lori, Jeff, Shaun, Dana, Christal, Tyler, Katy, Gabbie, Laney, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild, sisters, Edna Chapman, Patricia Devore both of Wooster and Julia Osborn of Virginia. Preceding her in death are her husband Gene Homan, her parents and sister Catherine (June) Weahry, and brothers Archie Carpenter and Anson Carpenter.
