Obituary for Alexander Zacour
Dr. Alexander Zacour, former of Orrville, passed away on March 31, 2014, after a long illness. Calling hours will be Thursday, April 3, from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Gresser Funeral Home, 415 North Elm Street, Orrville, Ohio. A memorial service will occur at the funeral home immediately thereafter. Pastor Dean Miller will be officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Orrville. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that friends may make a donation to LifeCare Hospice, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster, 44691 in his memory. Dr. Zacour was born on March 28, 1924, in Strabane, Pennsylvania, the son of Abraham and Mary (Elias) Zacour. He graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1942 and earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1944. He subsequently attended medical school and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D. O) degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1947. He was united in marriage to Ann Elizabeth Swegan on January 6, 1952, in Niles, Ohio. She survives. Following a three-year residency in Radiology in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Zacour became a certified radiologist and practiced general diagnostic radiology at Wayne General Hospital in Orrville from 1954-1980. After retiring from Wayne General Hospital, he served as Chairman of the Board of the Ohio Area XI Physicians Peer Review from 1980-1984. Dr. Zacour received numerous medical awards during his long professional career. In addition to his medical interests, he enjoyed baseball, gardening and reading during his leisure time and vacationing in Florida. Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years, are sons, Wayne (Ann) Zacour of Wooster, Dr. Kevin (Renee) Zacour of Doylestown, Dr. Todd (Melissa) Zacour of Canal Fulton and grandchildren, David of Wooster, Paul of Hartville, Daniel of North Canton, Stephen of Wooster, Kyle, Shane, Rachel and Brent of Doylestown, and Serena and Connor of Canal Fulton.
