Obituary for Robert W. Barkey
Robert W. Barkey, age 83 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, Ohio surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017, 11:00 AM at Gresser Funeral Home in Orrville. Pastor Larry Zimmerman will be officiating. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville, OH with military honors.
The family will receive relatives and friend one hour before the funeral services ant the funeral home.
The family suggests that friends may make a donation to LifeCare Hospice 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, OH 44691 in his memory.
He was born June 25, 1934 in Orrville, Ohio, the son of Russel and Lydia (Fordenwalt) Barkey. He graduated Orrville high School in 1952 and served his country in the Marine Corp during the Korean War. Robert is married to Sandra Zimmerman who was his constant companion.
Robert was a caring father and grand father who enjoyed spending time with all his family. His favorite pass times were fishing, bowling and watching Cleveland Indians and feeding his pet crappie by hand in the back yard pond. Robert had worked as a traffic manager at Rosemount in Orrville.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sandra are his children Steven (Veronica) Barkey of San Antonio, TX, Lisa (Bruce) Jacobson of Louisville, OH, Evonne (Donald) Kelly of Barberton, OH, Brenda (Ty) Platt of Huntington IN and a daughter in law Lori Shamblin of Dresden, OH. Also surviving are grandchildren Adrian (Jennifer) Miller, Angelica (Larry) Langford, Shana Shultz, Jaren Barkey, Aubrey Barkey, Brandon Shultz, Ashley (Mitch) Reichard, Dakota Kaufman, and Kyle, Konner & Kalee Platt; great grandchildren Peyton Rhody, Blake and Ellie Mae Reichard, Olivia and Allison Miller and Max and Brianna Langford and siblings Pat (William Lytle of Orrville, Barbara (James) Burkey of Smithville and Linda (Kieth) Geiser of Kidron.
Preceding him in death are his parents, son Michael Barkey and a sister Marian Junge.
