Obituary for Donald Gaitan
Donald Gaitan, age 80, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 13, 2016 in Orrville,Ohio.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services or visitation. Cremation has taken place.
The family suggests that friends may make a donation to a charity of the donors choice
in his memory.
He was born October 14, 1936 in Wellsburg, WV, the son of Lambo and Victoria Gaitan and was raised on the family farm. He attended Wellsburg High School and graduated where he excelled as a basketball player and track athlete.
Don moved to Orrville in 1960, working at Crown Steel and later at Flo-Tork, retiring as the plant manager in 2004. He had many interests. Don was a scratch golfer at Julie-Fe and later played in leagues at both Riceland and the Pines golf clubs. Don was a trap shooter, shooting registered targets and the Grand American along with trap leagues at North Lawrence and the Wayne Coon Hunters. His biggest joy was hunting pheasants in the Dakotas and fishing in Wyoming with his son, Donnie. He was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins and West Virginia Mountaineers. He will be missed by a core of friends and co-workers and his cat, Gracie.
Surviving are his son Donald K. Gaitan of Jackson,WY , grandchildren, Nicole and Jeremy Gaitan and a special friend Mariane Chanda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister and former wife JoAnn Lilly.
