She was born January 14, 1922 to Aldis and Sarah (Lehman) Gerber of Dalton. She grew up on the home farm southeast of Dalton and graduated from Dalton High School. On May 7, 1949, she married Adin L. Murray. He died August 15, 1992.
The children celebrate Mom’s gifts of homemaking and hospitality. She enjoyed people, entertaining and sewing, having taught 4-H sewing classes with the Smithville club and sewing for others.
She accepted Christ into her life and was a member of the Martins Mennonite Church where she enjoyed participating in the sewing group. She had formerly participated in the Georgetown Homemakers Club, and with Adin, in a Farm Bureau Council group. She was a fun, caring person who enjoyed times with family and friends.
Barbara is survived by 3 children: Ron (Joanne) Murray, Randy (Amy) Murray and Susan (Ralph) Hofstetter; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and sisters Norma Mumaw, Anne Rios, Karen Thieszen, and sister-in-laws Elaine Gerber and Betty Elaine Bean.
She is predeceased by her husband, parents and brothers and sister-in-laws, Orris and Esther Gerber, Herman and Mabel Gerber, Doyle Gerber, Les Mumaw and Harry Gerber.
The family would like to thank the staffs of OrrVilla Maple Terrace, Orrville Aultman Hospital and LifeCare Hospice.
